Terry McKenna

President

Terry McKenna brings a lifelong connection to the game of hockey and a deep personal commitment to the mission of STL Referee Scholarships. As the son of Bill McKenna, the visionary behind the foundation originally established in his name, Terry proudly carries forward his father’s legacy of respect, sportsmanship, and support for hockey officials.

A member of the original St. Louis Kids Hockey League founded in 1961, Terry began his hockey journey at Steinberg Rink in Forest Park and has remained actively involved in the sport ever since. He has served for more than 50 years as an NHL off-ice official, including 30 years working alongside his father, and also spent 10 years as an off-ice official for junior teams in the St. Louis area. In addition, Terry dedicated eight years to coaching with the Kirkwood Youth Hockey Association and continues to skate multiple times per week, reflecting his enduring passion for the game.

Beyond hockey, Terry was a respected dentist and dental practice owner since 1975. He is also an accomplished motorsports competitor, achieving success in road racing and earning the President’s Cup at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in 1982, recognizing exceptional ability, competitiveness, and achievement. Terry’s diverse accomplishments and lifelong dedication to service make him a strong and inspiring leader for STL Referee Scholarships.
