That is exactly what STL Referee Scholarships aims to support, helping referees turn those skills into future opportunities through higher education.
Recently reintroduced from its former identity as the Bill McKenna Memorial Scholarship Foundation, STL Referee Scholarships reflects both a renewed vision and a lasting legacy. The rebrand honors Bill McKenna’s impact on St. Louis hockey and officiating while expanding the organization’s reach and ensuring more officials can benefit from the program in the years ahead.
A Process Built Around Your Experience
The application process is straightforward but meaningful. Eligible applicants pursuing post-secondary education, are asked to complete an application that highlights their academic goals, officiating experience, and personal development.
Supporting materials such as proof of enrollment and academic information help round out each submission. From there, the STL Referee Scholarships Board of Directors reviews applications holistically, looking beyond grades to the character, commitment, and growth each candidate demonstrates through officiating.
