BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Mike McKenna
Board Member
Mike is a former professional hockey goaltender whose 14-year career spanned the NHL, AHL, and ECHL. He played more than 600 professional games while suiting up for 15 different NHL organizations. Born and raised in St. Louis, McKenna played for Kirkwood Youth Hockey Association, AAA Blues, and Parkway South High before leaving home at age 16 to pursue his dreams. He earned a scholarship to St. Lawrence University, graduating in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
Throughout his career, McKenna was a respected leader off the ice, serving for over a decade as a PHPA (Professional Hockey Players’ Association) player representative and Executive Committee member, as elected by his peers. In that role, he helped negotiate multiple collective bargaining agreements and executive contracts on behalf of professional players.
Following his retirement, McKenna transitioned into hockey media, working as a television analyst for the Vegas Golden Knights and co-hosting SiriusXM NHL Network Radio. He has provided written, streaming, and podcast content for outlets including Daily Faceoff, InGoal Magazine, and NHL.com, and previously hosted 6 Degrees with Mike McKenna and the St. Lawrence Hockey Podcast.
Outside of hockey media, McKenna has applied his leadership and business experience in the retail wine and spirits industry, playing a key role in bringing the first Macadoodles Beer, Wine & Spirits location to the greater St. Louis area and overseeing the development and opening of the Dardenne Prairie franchise, where he is currently the General Manager.
McKenna remains deeply connected to the game and his community, coaching his two daughters, along with the St. Louis Blues Warriors. He is a current board member of the Kirkwood Youth Hockey Association, a program founded by his grandfather, Bill McKenna, and also serves on the board of STL Referee Scholarships.
