BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Joe Sullivan
Board Member
Joe Sullivan is a second-generation board member of the STL Referees Scholarship Fund, continuing a family legacy of service to the St. Louis hockey community. His father played a key role in establishing the original scholarship fund in honor of Bill McKenna and his commitment to sportsmanship and respect.
Joe’s hockey experience spans playing, officiating, and coaching. He played youth hockey at Valley (now Twin Bridges), won three Missouri State Championships at DeSmet Jesuit (1999, 2000, 2002), and competed collegiately at Lindenwood University, where he was named team captain in 2004. He began officiating with the Missouri Ice Hockey Officials Association in 1996 and went on to officiate at the highest levels of the game.
Over his career, Joe officiated more than 500 professional games and 300 NCAA Division I games, including assignments at the SPHL President’s Cup Finals, ECHL Kelly Cup Finals, three NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship Games, seven NCAA Tournament Regionals, and the 2023 NCAA Frozen Four National Championship. He also served as an instructor at local, regional, and national officiating camps before retiring in November 2023.
Joe remains active in the hockey community as a youth coach with Twin Bridges. Outside the rink, he works as an Account Executive for CSI Leasing, supporting enterprise organizations across the Upper Midwest with IT equipment lifecycle solutions.
