Bob Howenstein

Immediate Past President and Treasurer

Bob Howenstein is a respected leader in the ice hockey officiating community with a longstanding commitment to education, integrity, and service. He has served for 20+ years as a board member and past president of STL Referee Scholarships (formerly the Bill McKenna Memorial Scholarship Foundation), where he is dedicated to preserving Bill McKenna’s philosophy of sportsmanship and respect within the St. Louis amateur hockey community.

Bob currently works as an NHL off-ice official and brings more than 35 years of officiating experience with USA Hockey. He has also served as a USA Hockey seminar instructor and evaluator, as past president of the Missouri Ice Hockey Officials Association, and as a past director on the board of Missouri Hockey. 

Passionate about giving back to the game, Bob believes that strong education and support for hockey officials are essential to player safety and the integrity of the sport. Through STL Referee Scholarships, he advocates for scholarships for officials who demonstrate professionalism, sportsmanship, and a commitment to the values that will sustain the game for years to come.
